100 followers: Run up 100 floors

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to climb 100 floors in the middle of summer, in a public square in Italy, without speaking a word of Italian? Uncommon as a challenge, isn’t it? That’s what I’m about to do. So get ready for the epic tale of this curious challenge.

Do you have hot sauce?

I present to you my latest sporting challenge: climb 100 floors. To be honest, I have no idea how difficult the task is. Will I need to take many breaks? Will I feel like my quadriceps are going to explode? Will I get body aches from hell? Will I be able to run during climbs? Will I become the executioner of my knees?

Nevertheless, in order to make it all even more thrilling, I decided to make the ascent, during a hot summer, in the middle of a public square! It’s obviously funnier (and embarrassing) than being hidden in a stairwell. Last detail: I’m in Italy, and the only Italian word I know is “Spaghetti”.

A human experience above all

Apart from the heat, the challenge is finally going quite well. I arrive at 50 floors very quickly and realize that I may not need to end the day limping.

Unsurprisingly, the locals do not seem accustomed to this kind of practice and come to ask me questions. This resulted in very deep conversations: arm movements and dubious nods. Some tourists even thought I would make a great souvenir in their holiday photo album.

Determined and motivated by the encouragement of passers-by, I continue my ascents, without ever feeling the need to stop or walk.

An unforgettable triumph

It was then that the public began to gather. Camera flashes crackled everywhere. And suddenly… In a last breath, I raise my arms to the sky and I cross the finish line in triumph! The 100ᵉ floor! People cheered and cries echoed throughout the public square. In short, the crowd was delirious.

A legend was born. It was an incredible performance, proof that the mind can overcome the limits of the body. This accomplishment will surely be told again and again, from generation to generation. The lesson we can all learn from this challenge: never be afraid to take on a challenge, even if it seems impossible. With determination and dedication, you can achieve anything.

All this to say that this challenge was ultimately quite easy, but very enjoyable thanks to the interactions with passers-by.

PS: My biggest fans were mostly pigeons, but it is definitely less epic. Without resentment.
